Holiday Season Consider Vodka Made from Apples

Author: admin - Category: food and drink - Date published: October 16, 2009

We are coming in to the holiday season with Thanksgiving not too far off and then it will be Christmas.  My where did this year go?  We want to call your attention to a relatively new type of alcoholic beverage that is made from a very plentiful resource, Apples!

Vodka made from apples is not exactly new but it has been relatively unknown until the recent years.  You might be thinking about apple flavored vodka but we are talking about pure clear vodka that is made from a mash of apples.

After distillation through multiple levels the natural starch and sugars of the apple are converted in to pure so-called grain alcohol and then it is blended for your taste buds to a pleasant drink.

Historically vodka has been made from potatoes, beets, and several grains.  It actually can even be made from just molasses if need be.  The idea to use apples was quite east to come by as they are available in great quantity and all you need is a legal still to convert them.

This type of vodka made from apples may be tossed down neat, or used in any type of a mixed drink that calls for vodka.  There are some blends on the market that have actually had a little apple flavoring blended in just to please the palette, it is just a matter of personal preference.

You will find a lot more information on the Apple Vodka website.  Enjoy and drink responsibly.  Never drink and drive!
